Denim Belt Loop Cuffs and Some Tags

I don't even remember when I last bought a piece of jewelry or hinted to my hubby that I would like to have a certain piece from one of those fancy jewelry shops. I don't care about precious metals and diamonds anymore but prefer handmade, one of a kind jewelry instead. For many years now, I've been making my own necklaces, bracelets and earrings and I also wear beautiful pieces created by artistic blogging friends.

Upcycled Jewelry: Denim Belt Loop Cuffs by Vintage with Laces

When I sort out, receive or buy an old pair of jeans for upcycling, I first cut off the belt loops and collect them in a bag. One day, when I removed the belt loops of some used jeans, I got the idea to turn them into cuffs and came up with three varying styles.

I tried different kinds of buttons as embellishments and finally decided to use bold metal ones with an antique silver finish.

I'm very excited that my cuffs have been published in the Spring 2017 issue of GreeCraft Magazine.

Upcycled Denim Tags by Vintage with Laces in GreenCraft Magazine Spring 2017

When I sent in my submission to GreenCraft Magazine, I attached some sewn denim tags to the cuffs with my contact details inserted in the pockets on the back. The tags made it into the magazine as well which was a lovely surprise.

Currently, I don't have any denim projects in the works but I will turn to my stash of old jeans again sooner or later. It's such a sturdy and versatile material that is suitable for all kinds of creations. I just love to work with it.

The cuffs and tags will attend these great parties:

DIY Salvaged Junk at Funky Junk Interiors
Saturday Sparks at Pieced Pastimes
Sonntagsblatt at Raumseele
Waste Not Wednesday at Raggedy Bits

How wonderful! I was reading your post and loving the jewelry, and thinking it should be in a magazine! So perfect for Greencraft! Congratulations!

Very clever, what is so fun about creative blogs is that we all get to see like minded people. I am realistic to know that I should NOT start saving loops since I have enough projects, thanks very much. However, if I am ever purging lots of old, useless jeans, this is a great idea!

These are very cool. You must have a heavy duty sewing machine; when I try to sew more than two layers of denim a needle usually breaks - lol. very clever!

A perfect idea for Greencraft!
Love them - I hate throwing away any of the cut offs from jeans too lol
I love that magazine but postage to Uk is so expensive these days and I no longer subscribe sadly.

Oh Julia, welch wunderbare Idee!

Very original pieces Julia. I too don't really care for diamonds and pearls. Isn't it funny how when we get older we start to see the beauty of everyday things. Congratulations on your magazine feature.

These are lovely very creative and original. I love denim upcycled projects especially ones that use the more unusual bits of jeans like the waistband, hems and seams. The tags are adorable too! I have pinned both to my denim upcycled board. Also congratulations for getting them published in the magazine.

So glad I clicked on your post. Love to hear about new ideas and how they're implemented.
Enjoy rest of your weekend

How wonderful! Congratulations. The denim cuff bracelets are brilliant. And lovely little tags, too. I found an issue of Green Craft Magazine once while traveling a couple of years ago, but haven't seen it since.

Cute ideas. I love jewelry. But since I have retired I don't get to wear what I have much. I love mixing my silver stuff with different metals. My diamond earrings with fake diamond stuff. Mix and match...the way to go. Thanks for sharing and for coming over to my blog to visit. Stop in anytime.

How very clever your jeans belt loops jewelry is! Quite unique and original. I love them. Congrats on being published with your cuffs! And so clever of the magazine to realize your tags are just as clever and creative and most worthy of publishing as well. So inspiring!

I am quite teary eyed looking at this blog post, denim belt loops, my husband wore jeans or jean shorts almost every day of his life, they were part of him and now he is gone, so this IDEA is so special for me to run across!!!!! THANK YOU so much. Take care from Iowa
